Ninive. Bilder aus Sanheribs "Palast ohnegleichen", exhibition at the Martin von Wagner Museum of the Würzburg University, October 21, 2016 - February 19, 2017

The photographic exhibition on the reliefs from the "Palace without rivals" of Nineveh opens on October 21 at the Martin von Wagner Museum, in the South Wing of the beautiful Residenzt Palace at Würzburg. The pictures, taken by the photographer Angelo Rubino during a campaign of study and documentation held at Nineveh by the CRAST together with the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism (MiBACT), were the object of previous exhibitions in Turin, Baghdad and Venice.

The CRAST is glad for the cooperation with the Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg. The loan of the pictures of Sennacherib's wall-reliefs at Nineveh aims both at spreading the knowledge of these masterworks of Neo-Assyrian art, and at growing the audience's awareness of the need to preserve Near Eastern cultural heritage, which has recently been the object of violent attacks.
